Ben + Emma, a Central Park Wedding in New York City

Ben and Emma from the UK met in 2007 whilst backpacking around Australia. Then for Emma’s 30th birthday Ben whisked her away to Edinburgh, Scotland and proposed to her at the top of Calton Hill……they then married in New York in early September 2011…..

Read all about their big day…

Why did you choose to get married in New York?

We knew we didnt want a huge big wedding in the UK and New York is a city we love so it just made sense!

Tell us about your gorgeous dress!

Well, there we’re 2! I picked the first one last October but when it arrived in the shop in February there was something about it that didn’t feel quite right, I decided to try on a few more dresses and found ‘the one’. The dress is by Veromia style 61060. Ben was very very understanding about the whole situation!

Where did you stay in NYC?

At the Affinia Manhattan on 7th Ave, We would absolutely recommend it, not only for its central location but for the great service we received whilst we were there.

Who did you book for your make up and hair styling?

My make up was done by Nicole Sievers who works for Sally Duvall. I would highly recommend her, I didnt have time for a trial but she knew exactly what I wanted. I did my own hair.

Emma’s beautiful flowers were by ‘Flowers by Richard

Emma and Ben married at the fabulous Ladies Pavillion in Central Park

The couple hired Luke Batson to play Sax

Tell us about Ben’s suit?

A dark grey suit, white shirt and no tie…..he looked very handsome!

What happened after the ceremony?

My mum managed to fall down some steps near the Bethesda Fountain cutting her leg quite badly, luckily there was a film crew in the park that day and the medic bandaged her up!

Did you hire any transport to take you around the City for photos?

We booked the New York Trolley to take us and our guests on a tour of the city for photos after the ceremony, unfortunately the bus turned up 45 mins late due to traffic.. by which time we had made the decision to head off with Brian on our own for pictures, leaving our guests to get on the Trolley when it eventually turned up! It all worked out for the best though as some of our best photos were taken on the subway.

The couple and their guests then cruised on the Bateaux dinner cruise

Tell us about the Bateaux..

It was truly amazing and we cannot recommend it enough. The food was outstanding, the service excellent, the band were great, we just loved the whole evening and our guests are still raving about it now.

Any special /funny moments that you would like to share?

We arrived at pier 61 ready to board the Bateaux when we realised we had 2 spare tickets and couldnt work out why……until we realised Ben’s Mum and Step Dad were missing! Somehow they had managed to miss the cars that were arranged to bring us to the Pier. Ben and his best man had to race back to the hotel to find them and they all arrived back just in time to board the boat but it was a tense 20 minutes!

Emma and Ben had their first dance to ‘Empire State of Mind’ by Alicia Keys

What is your favourite photo of the day?

There are so many! We love the black & white ones on the subway and the one of us walking through Times Square, they are so unique and feel very ‘New York’!

Emma included the pic shown below in her ‘Favourites’ list and it is my favourite too!! it is Stunning!

The happy couple then spent 2 weeks driving through California in a White Mustang!!

Congratulations Ben & Emma!!!

Brian; You and Lisa make a great team, if I understand the flow of things. You take great photos in places the wedded couple will never forget. Lisa, it looks as if you have all the presentation details down perfectly. That lends both comfort to those just married and is great marketing. Bravo to you both! Say, what’s the story on that nice cancer donation noted on place cards?ReplyCancel

Hi Geof, we decided to go with the charity pins instead of traditional favours. We made donations to both the British heart foundation and Cancer research as our families have been affected by both of these diseases and gave our guests the pins to remember the day by.ReplyCancel
