Real NYC Weddings – Russell and Sarah

The story of Russell, Sarah and Brian started back in January 2011…When the couple heard that Brian was meeting up with couples and newlyweds in London one Saturday night in January they were intrigued to go and meet him, however they were slightly dubious that the meet up was actually for real, so much so that they watched from across the street to see if it was a wind up! Luckily they decided to come into the bar and were both relieved to meet Brian and to discover that it was for real!

10 years ago, in Cambridgeshire in England, Russell and Sarah met, and finally on 10th June 2011 they married! They had a glorious day for their City Hall wedding followed by a fun photo tour in the City!

The couple had booked their trip to New York and Las Vegas long before they decided to get married there, they had joked about getting married in Las Vegas but neither of them wanted to get married by Elvis! It was after Sarah watched the Sex and the City movie that it all changed and they started looking into getting married in City Hall, they knew they didn’t want a huge wedding and they have always loved New York, so it suited them perfectly.

Some of Sarah’s friends organized for the beautiful bouquet and buttonhole as a surprise for Russell & Sarah 🙂

Sarah wanted a simple dress that she would be comfortable wearing in the heat and chose this beautiful dress and shoes.

After leaving City Hall Russ & Sarah began their photo tour of Times Square and Central Park…

After the ceremony and photos, the couple headed back to their apartment to change and to tell their family and friends (as the vast majority of them had no idea that they were getting married!).   They headed over to Times Square for a drink before seeing Billy Elliott that evening.   Closing out the night was a fabulous meal at a little restaurant called Chilli Thai on 9th Av, 49th St which they highly recommend!

A little Behind the scenes look at Brian in action…

Here is my interview with the Newlyweds themselves!!!

What is your favourite memory of the day?

The whole day was memorable for us.  From getting up in the morning and going for a walk to get a New York Times and a croissant, to getting ready together in the apartment, to waiting for the car to arrive, to the Ceremony, to every location of the photos, to our evening at the show and restaurant.  We were relaxed throughout which we think has helped remember every single part of the day.

What’s your favourite place in New York?

That’s a tough question!!!  Too many to mention, favourite place to eat and drink would be Greenwich Village (Spotted Pig one of our fav’s), favourite place and way to relax would be a bike ride around Central Park, favourite place to shop is SoHo, favourite place to walk would be the High Line in Chelsea, but the list really does go on!!

Where did you go on honeymoon?

Las Vegas – Well what you can we say about Vegas!!  We gambled too much, drank too much and ate far too much, what more could anyone want!!!

What is your favourite photo taken on the day?

This photo in Times Square, for us it is epitomizes New York, with the city carrying on with its day whatever the event.  We love the colors of this picture and the fact that you get a feel of the size of New York in the background.

Tell us your best tip for other Brides/grooms looking to get married in NY…

Book Brian Friedman!!

Brian Surprised the couple after the ceremony with a signed photo of Ray Romano, one of Russell’s Idols!

Russ and Sarah are sharing their marriage with their friends and family by having a celebration party back in the UK

Congratulations!
