Social media is ever-evolving, and it is constantly changing how I, as a photographer, display and share the images I create. I’m sure that almost all of us know how to post a picture or an album to Facebook, but that isn’t always the best way to showcase photos or give a snapshot of a particular event/experience.
One alternative I use frequently is collages– multiple photos canvassed together into one image. This is a great way to get more visual bang for your buck, if you know what I mean. In one click, one look, you can create an atmosphere, tell a story, display an interesting juxtaposition, or show striking contrast. Or just put some of your favorite photos all in one place! Put two pictures side by side, or create an overall effect by using a dozen tiled together! Get creative!
There are a number of downloadable and online programs that will do this for you for free, and even apps that will do it right on your phone so you can collage on the go! Just search for “photo collage software” or “photo collage app” and you’ll find a bunch. If you’re interested in seeing some of my recent wedding collages, I actually keep them all on my Pinterest.
