One of my favorite sources of natural light is “window light.” It’s a very soft, flattering quality of light that I use a lot when I do portraits of people and animals. It can also be used to shoot still life as well! All you really need to do is find the right window and bring your subject close to it. Try photographing them from the side for a more dramatic effect (both you and the subject have 1 shoulder touching the window) OR put your back against the window, allowing the light to completely illuminate your subject’s face. Part of what I love is that it’s a constant light source that isn’t too harsh on the subject, so you can experiment without firing a flash. Some examples with beautiful ladies are below.
