As professional photographers, one really important thing we need to do but often neglect is protect our images. Watermarking is effective but at the end of the day what you really want to do is register them with the US Copyright Office via the eCO eService. It’s a very simple thing to do and will without a doubt give you peace of mind in the unlikely event that infringement on your valuable work take place. I do it once every year and typically register my wedding work as one application and my entertainment work as a separate application. I make small jpgs of all my work (usually 300×200 pixels, 72dpi) and file electronically. Take the time to do it! You don’t want to regret NOT doing it periodically!
